Keeping It Natural: A Win for Pocono Township’s Outdoors

Expanding Recreational Access on Preserved Lands in Pocono Township

On Monday, July 21, 2025, I proudly introduced and passed a motion that updates our zoning regulations to better reflect the needs and values of Pocono Township residents. This change removes unnecessary infrastructure requirements on preserved lands, making it easier for people to access and enjoy our natural surroundings.

Working in close partnership with the Pocono Heritage Land Trust, we eliminated mandates for signage, picnic tables, trash containers, and large paved parking lots—requirements that often served as roadblocks to simply enjoying the land as it is. These updates recognize that not every outdoor space needs to be developed to be appreciated.

The idea is simple. You shouldn’t have to pave paradise just to visit it. Sometimes, the best experience comes from the stillness and simplicity of nature left untouched. These changes strike a better balance between conservation and recreation. They give residents and visitors more opportunities to hike, explore, and reconnect with the outdoors without the need for intrusive construction.

This was a meaningful step toward protecting what makes Pocono Township special, while also making sure those natural treasures are accessible to everyone. I’m proud of this win, and I’m grateful for the community’s support as we continue this important work.

I remain committed to preserving the Poconos, improving outdoor access, and keeping our township a place where nature and people thrive together. Thank you for believing in this vision. Let’s keep going.
